VEGETABLE TEMPURA

SERVES: 2-3

Serving

INGREDIENTS

DIPPING SAUCE

  • 100ml water

  • ½ tsp Spiral Instant Vegan Dashi

  • 1Tbsp Spiral Mirin

  • 2Tbsp Spiral Genuine Tamari
     

TEMPURA

  • ½ red onion, sliced thinly

  • 1/3 carrot chopped into strips      

  • 1-2 mushrooms, sliced thinly

  • ¼C baby rocket

  • 3Tbsp Casalare Tempura Flour

  • 5Tbsp water

  • oil for frying

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a small saucepan, add water, dashi powder, mirin and tamari. Bring to a boil over medium heat for about 1 minute.
     

  2. In a large bowl, add all the kakiage vegetables and mix well.
     

  3.  Sprinkle and coat with 1Tbsp of flour.
     

  4.  In a medium bowl, add the remaining 2Tbsp of flour and water and mix well.
     

  5.  Add the tempura vegetables and roughly mix them with batter.
     

  6.  Heat oil in a small pan to 170C.
     

  7.  Take a scoop of the mixture with a wood spatula and slip into the oil.
     

  8.  Deep-fry until browned on both sides.
     

  9. Drain and serve with dipping sauce. Enjoy!
